The Book
The book is a product of several years of research into actual characters and events, Ray Ward explained that he chose the "historic novel" concept for his latest work, primarily because it is unknown what conversations and events took place between documented facts, and he wanted to breathe life into the people and places to make them more real.
"Facts may be true, but they make very dry reading for the average person," Ray pointed out. "I wanted a format to keep people reading."
Describing his epic as a "portal into the past," Ray notes that it differs from the approach taken by most authors who have focused on the actions of well known generals, and instead focuses on a little-known period of early American history.
